Reviewing and improving the HR Function

Viacom Outdoor is the UK’s leading transport media company. It has approximately 3000 people based in the UK and across Europe and needed to review and improve the effectiveness of its HR function.

People Business provided a mix of support and services over a period of four months including the following:

  • Placing an interim HR Director
  • Carrying out an HR Health Check to audit the contribution of the HR function to the business’s needs.
  • Consulting with key directors and creating an HR strategy aligned with business objectives, revising the structure, objectives and responsibilities of the HR team
  • Supporting organisational changes involving the reorganisation of a number of key functions
  • Carrying out an audit of the HR effectiveness of the European business’s HR functions
  • Initiating a major “housekeeping exercise” to ensure compliance with Data Protection requirements
  • Coaching the existing HR and Payroll teams to improve their effectiveness
  • Scoping out the HR function’s IT requirements and making the business case for the purchase of improved HR IT systems
  • Creating a new job spec for the European HR Director role and supporting their appointment
