Project Description

An Investment Bank 2

This client is a privately held and employee-owned global investment bank delivering investment banking, private equity and equity research services to institutions and corporations around the world. With revenues in excess of $2.5 billion, this client employees  around 5,000 staff in 200 locations in Europe, the United States and Asia.

The client approached People Business needing ideas for how to support newly promoted Associates. Promotion to this role, means additional responsibilities for managing junior and senior staff and external clients. What became clear, is that Associates needed to be prepared well in order to succeed quickly and effectively.

This role is complex; Associates are required to coordinate a number of client deals simultaneously and they need to understand the expectations of different stakeholders, with differing styles and manage resources who are not direct reports but shared amongst other teams.

How People Business assisted the client

To shape the design of this programme we gathered information from key stakeholders that would help us tailor it appropriately. We used the feedback gathered as an intergral part of the programme. The interviews with subject matter experts really helped articulate the expectations of associates and an interactive design was created including role plays to give opportunities for practice and feedback.

The role is exceptionally busy, therefore training is spread over two days giving the flexibility that Associates need to deliver their day job alongside learning.

The programme has run successfully for three years with continuous refinements using interviews with senior stakeholders and evaluation results from participants to strengthen the design and delivery each year.

This five-star programme now takes place immediately after promotions are announced so that Associates feel more confident to succeed quickly in their new role.
